Temporary Village at Narrow Neck, Devonport

August 13 2020

As a result of the Office Training School (OTS) closure at Narrow Neck, in Devonport, the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) and Defence Estate and Infrastructure (DEI) have worked through options for suitable facilities to allow the OTS to remain operational. The immediate solution is the construction of modular units that will form a temporary village at Narrow Neck. The RNZN will use the village for officer training, providing a more cohesive training facility. Construction of the temporary village has commenced and it will be in operation for a period of up to five years while decisions are being made regarding a permanent solution. The whole facility comprises of 19 large modules including accommodation, kitchen, dining, recreation rooms and washing and drying and will hold 97 single accommodation units with adjoining ablution facilities.
